Today we had our first family bike ride. Yes we have survived and are now very tired. We went to a park that has a nice sealed road for bikes. It was great but has many hills that were hard when you are not used to bikes and the exercise.
We managed and the kids ended up walking their bikes up the majority of the hills. I did some as I had to make sure the kids were okay and did not want to get too far away from them.
It was fun, and it definitely proves that my bike and hubby’s bike works well. I just need to understand more about the gears and the reasons for changing them.
The kids did very well as it was a long circuit and most of it was up hills. One kid forgot how to use her breaks and ended up in a tree. A few scratches and bumps later we were all okay. Hubby and I were pleased that the kids finished the bike ride. Next time it will hopefully be easier and more practice will allow us to do it more easily I am sure.
I did find it hard to ride slower than I wanted. A bike ride on my own is needed to get some exercise and to allow me to ride at the speed I wanted to do today.
